LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Being just two miles from Fraisthorpe Beach (10 minutes’ drive), it wouldn’t be a holiday without time spent digging moats on the sandy beach, examining rock pools, or chasing the pup into the surf (it’s dog-friendly too) Further afield, more coves can be found at the chalk cliffs of Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast (30 minutes).
The expanses of East Yorkshire countryside are right on your doorstep too. Pull on your wellies and prepare to hurdle the country stiles – and while you’re roaming, check out the earthwork left in the wake of the ruins of Skipsea Castle (two minutes), which used to be an old Norman motte-and-bailey fortress.
You won’t be short of activities for the whole family in this area either. Perhaps prepare a picnic to enjoy on the grounds of the family-run working farm at Honeysuckle Farm (10 minutes). Then, pop by Mr Moo’s Ice Cream Parlour (two minutes) for some real mouth-watering Yorkshire dairy ice cream – orange marmalade, ticklee toffee, and blackberry slammer are just some of their out-of-the-box flavours.
Less of a sweet tooth? Dig into a heartier meal in the beachfront pubs of Bridlington and Hornsea (each within a 15-minute drive) or venture into markets of Beverley (30 minutes).
